Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapists conduct assesssments to gather information about an individual's functional abilities and challenges faced in day to day activities. Once an assessment is completed our OT's can develop a personalised treatment plan identifying the specific needs of the individual and the areas where support is required. Areas of assessment can include fine and gross motor skills, handwriting, sensory processing, executive functioning, life and self care skills. Once the clients abilities are assessed, our clients are able to work with our OT's to increase their abilities to take care of themselves and maximise their functioning in all areas of life.

Speech Pathology

Speech pathology assessments are considered when you have concerns relating to your child's speech and language skills and are not sure what to do next. Our therapists are passionate about providing comprehensive assessments services so a child's strengths and challenges can be identified. The results will indicate whether your child's speech and language skills are typically developing or if they are not developing typically for their age so intervention options can be discussed. Adults may also require a speech assessment if there are speech or language concerns, or neurological impairments. Areas assessed include early language development, early feeding skills, receptive and expressive language, stuttering, speech abilities and swallowing.

Physiotherapy

An assessment by our physiotherapists is the crucial first step in your journey. The assessment process involves obtaining the client's history, conducting a physical examination and reviewing medical records. Our clients can expect our physios to select appropriate assessment techniques to understand your problem, diagnose, if necessary, conduct further imaging or testing if required and ensure the most effective personalised treatment plan is developed. Our physiotherapists are experienced in paediatrics, being able to assess and address movement disorders and developmental delays in children. As part of the assessment process a medical history will be obtained, an understanding of the client's exercise goals, they may assess your range of motion, flexibility, balance and strength and endurance, whilst also possibly obtaining some physical measurements (weight, heart rate, blood pressure, body composition). The assessment will assist the EP and client to achieve their exercise goals safely, identify any barriers that may be contributing to any difficulties or pain experienced when exercising. Overall, our EP's help restore physical health and functioning by providing exercise based interventions, support and advice.

Dietetics

Our dietitians conduct a nutritional assessment to evaluate our client's health and diet. The assessment can include client personal history, identification of chronic health conditions, food/nutrition related history, physical measurements, medical tests and procedures and nutrition focused physical results. Through this assessment any health issues that may affect nutrition are identified, diagnosis can be made and the most effective plan is developed and implemented to positively change or improve a nutrition related problem, including eating disorders. The intervention plan can include education on nutrition, setting of nutrition goals, meal plans and cooking classes. Our younger clients can benefit from an assessment with our dietitians to improve physical well-being, understand the linkage between diet and mental health and atypical eating patterns.
